i know i know

I'm weird. Ok, I know I have weird tastes.

This one even sounds gross to me but it is what I have been craving and eating every chance I get.
Brace yourself.
Peanut butter, Mayo, Pickle, Boca Vegan Burger Patty.

Good lord it is so delicious.
Needless to say, I have been having cereal for breakfast and these crazy burgers for lunch.

Not much to update.

Unhealthy...sigh.

I just want to start this post by saying I worked out today.

Breakfast
Cereal ($.10)
Milk ($.10)

Lunch
Mac and Cheese ($.44)
Boca Burger ($.82)
bread ($.08)

Snack
Orange ($.46)

Dinner
The rest of the Mac and Cheese (white cheddar) ($.44)

Dessert
Shortbread cookies! Yay! These bad boys are just sticks of butter, powdered sugar, flour, and vanilla extract. Pretty cheap.

last night

That looks delicious doesn't it? What if I told you that was only $.88 would you believe me? Well you should!

Keep Scrolling down

That's right it came from a bag! It is Kroger brand Stir fry Veggies with Noodles. It came straight outta the frozen veggie section and I must say it was pretty darn good. I dressed it up with a few crushed cashews, soy sauce, and Sriracha hot sauce (you know the Cock sauce).

cravings

Most people crave chocolate cake or ice cream. Me? I have been craving cereal. I cannot get enough of it. I made a trip to Kroger yesterday just for cereal ($2.99 for 2 lbs.) and soymilk.

Breakfast
Off brand honey o's (~ $.10)
Soymilk (~ $.10)

Lunch
Probably the same... shame.

Ten cent dessert

OH my gawd, I just made the cheapest most fantastical dessert ever.

One flour tortilla (the small ones) (.07)
I took a stick of butter and rubbed it all over one side.
I took my shaker of cinnamon sugar and generously doused the buttered side.
Then I popped it into my toaster oven at about 400 degrees.
I watched it bubble up and get a little crispy.
Then I ate it!

It was so good. I should sell those suckers for .75 and I would still be making a profit.

Spiral Diner is berryberry good

Check out this sad little guy. I found him in a jar of pickles at my mom's house. One of my favorite kind of sandwiches is peanut butter and pickle on white bread. I usually only have wheat which is still good but that is one more thing I love about going to my mom's, white bread.
My friend Lauron treated me to some "fro-yo" at BerryBerry in Dallas this past week. I had the sugar free vanilla yogurt with pineapple and caramel. Man it was so good. She had the sugar free strawberry with raspberries, blackberries, and granola. I think. This place was really cool. Free Wifi and the floor sparkles! They have all kinds of mix-ins too (think almonds to cereal). For those of you that like that really tangy frozen yogurt they have it here. The question is what don't they have?

Before our frozen yogurt extravaganza we went to Spiral Diner in Oak Cliff. A couple of summers ago I ate at the Spiral in Fort Worth. I am happy to say that they are equally delicious. I had the Jamaican Jerk sandwich. Man it was spicy and being from Louisiana, I can handle some spice. I pretty much love anything with pineapple on it and as you can see there are two cute little pineapple rings on this wich. Oh, and the "patty" so to speak is Tempeh. I chose to have potato salad as my side but as you can see it was an extremely small portion. Not a horrible thing considering the GIANT sandwich. Next time I would probably order the fruit to accompany my sandwich. The fact that my sandwich called me a jerk made the dining experience even better. That "mayo" stuff whatever it was tasted just like real mayo. The only sad part of this meal was the bill, this with tip cost me about $15.00. Considering that my monthly grocery bill is only about $60.00, this doesn't fit into the "cheap" category. But hey, its ok every once in a while.

Sweep the kitchen lunch

I had some old potatoes and a bunch of 99 cent broccoli sitting around my apartment so I thought I would get creative for lunch and make myself something new.

These are the seasonings I used for my broccoli and potatoes. They are prepared and cooked exactly the same way.
I took 3 potatoes (they were on the verge of sprouting eyes) cut them into rounds. Sprayed down a cookie sheet with cooking spray. Coated the potato rounds with oil and all seasonings shown above. Then I prepared my broccoli exactly the same way! Put the broccoli in a round glass baking dish, drizzled them with oil and seasoned the hell out of them. All the while preheating my oven to 450.
Then into the oven for oh, I guess about 25-30 minutes.
When the broccoli was done I sprinkled a little grated Parmesan over the top. I will definitely be making these two items for myself again and again.

Lent

I had no idea of the impact of religion on fast food and restaurant chains. As I was making the drive from Lafayette, LA back the the DFW I realized how many places are adding menu items or promoting ones that never really get any attention.
Well here see for yourselves.

Taco bell's Pacific Shrimp Taco
http://www.tacobell.com/menuitem/pacific-shrimp-taco
You know that silly commercial about the blogger that eats all kinds of shrimp?

McDonald's is promoting the Filet-o-fish like crazy! They have that plastic fish singing a song and they are giving you a free sandwich if you buy one in a meal. This sandwich was actually created for the Lenten season.

Popeye's they are chicken right? Well they are running a special on Shrimp and Fish Platters as well.

I also remember seeing El Fenix had some sort of seafood something or another on special recently as well. So for all you Catholics out there don't despair you have many choices this Lent. Not just fish.

Someone needs to create a holiday that says no meat can be eaten, then there would be Vegetarian options everywhere!

Yesterday and Today.

Yesterday

Breakfast
Fiber One bar (surprise surprise)

Lunch
I made these totally radsome (that is awesome and rad combined) "burger wraps"
The burger wraps consisted of...
One Vegan Boca burger (cut in half)
Two Tortillas
One piece of cheese
Two squirts of ketchup

I ripped the cheese in half, slapped one half of a boca patty on a tortilla, squirted some ketchup on, and wrapped that sucker up.
Repeat for a second wrap with the other half of all the ingredients.

Some of you might be saying, "Nothing about that is radsome!"

Well I made half a can of veggie chili and dipped those babies in! Delicious.

Dinner
FREE!
An old friend bought me Subway. In case some of you are curious, I get a footlong veggie on wheat with pepper jack cheese. As for the veggies, I get everything but cucumbers, jalapenos, and onions. I like to moisten up my wich with lite mayo, sweet onion sauce, salt and pepper, and oil and vinegar.
To my surprise, they had veggie patties at Subway. Does anyone know what is up with this? Is subway jumping on the veggie patty bandwagon? I didn't get one, it looked kind of scary. Maybe when I am feeling rich and adventurous.

Today

Breakfast
A big old bowl of off brand in the bag cereal. Don't even ask me how much it cost because I bought it so long ago. I also don't know what kind it is. Some sort of bran flake with almonds.

Lunch
I skipped out on lunch today because I was busy!

Snack
A handful of Kroger brand tortilla chips drizzled with a couple of tablespoons of Pace.

Dinner
1/4 cup of lentils
The other 1/2 can of veggie chili
I mixed them together and it was actually good.

After dinner snack
One apple
About 5 broccoli florets with my secret sauce, want to know the secret?

Secret Sauce (no big secret but it is really good)
One part Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce
One part Light Ranch

Oh Yes! It's Free

My three wonderful followers will see that I haven't posted in a few days. No, that doesn't mean I have been fasting or starving. I have been at my mom's. Where everything is FREE to me. She even sends me home with things to eat!
So friends, please don't be worried about me. When I start eating on my own dime again, I will post the totals.

Oh, and while I was visiting my mom's there was a whole baking fiasco but that is a whole different post.

free dinner day!

Breakfast
Fiber one bar (carmel and oats) (~.45)

If I had my choice between the breakfast burrito yesterday and the tiny fiber one bar today... I think the choice is obvious. The burrito yesterday was delicious and very filling.

Morning Snack ( I was still hungry from the little fiber one bar)
Orange (~.46)

Lunch
I threw together something that I wasn't sure about for lunch. I made a "pseudo burrito bowl" you know like from Chipotle. I took some brown rice that I had in the fridge, and some canned corn, mixed them together, popped them in the microwave, poured a little Pace over them, put a tortilla on the side, and ate every last bite. I was happily surprised by my wanna be Chipotle. It was way cheaper too.

Corn (~ .19)
Rice (~ .09)
Pace ( ~ .05)
Tortilla ( ~ .07)

Dinner
Dinner tonight is FREE! Yes, you heard me. They are having a baked potato bar down in the community center of my apartment complex.

That brings my total for the day to a whopping... $1.31

Assuming I don't eat anything else from my pantry.

grocery club day.

Today was "Grocery Club" day. A day many fear and a day many adore. I am in the in between. I cannot make up my mind about grocery shopping. Usually the receipt at the end makes up my mind for me. Today I tried out a new grocery store a "Kroger Signature". I found that it was very fancy on the inside. They had a very large selection of organic products, produce, and you could even make your own peanut/almond butter! Too bad all of that is too expensive for me. I tend to shop sales, bulk, and cheap. I feel that I did a fairly good job today. I spent a grand total of 61.00 and this should last me about a month.

As for what I have eaten today...

Breakfast
A breakfast burrito
One flour tortilla (~ .07)
Two eggs (~ .26)
One piece of cheese ( I have no idea)
And a couple of spoonfuls of Pace picante sauce ( pennies)

So my breakfast total came to ~ .50

Lunch
Veggie Burger with an Apple
Two pieces of wheat bread ( ~ .04)
A Vegan Boca patty ( ~ .82 )
A few pieces of spinach ( ~ .05)
A squirt of B-B-Q sauce ( ~ .07)
Apple ( ~ .46)

Lunch total ~ $1.44

Snack
One orange ( .46)
